Even Kissinger Doesn't See Victory

After spending the early 70s proping up Nixon's hopeless continutation in Vietnam, Kissinger crawled zombie-like into the new century to prop up Bush's hopeless continuation of the Iraq mess. Well, even this ardent supporter of "stay the course" nows admits there is no possibility of victory.

If you mean by 'military victory' an Iraqi government that can be established and whose writ runs across the whole country, that gets the civil war under control and sectarian violence under control in a time period that the political processes of the democracies will support, I don't believe that is possible.

A staggering admission. Bush's Mid-East laboratory for Jeffesonian Democracy is toast. Some of us knew that a while ago. Good to see even the hawks haven't completely abandoned sense.
