First, Lynn Westmoreland did it. Now, Republican candidate for the 8th district Rick Goddard has done it. Both called an African American "uppity".

Let us speak plainly.

Anyone who doesn't understand the long history of racism associated with the term "uppity" is either ignorant or a fool - two traits we should desperately try to exorcise from our legislative bodies.

For those who continue to be in denial and are desperately trying to pirouette this into some weird partisan slam, just shut up for a minute and press play.

Those PP folks are just begging for a repost of that video about the difference between accusing someone of saying something racist and accusing them of being racist.
