My Morning Wooten

Today's a real laugher.

A few days ago Jim opined that even though Alaska's favorite bridge builder Ted Steven's convictions were overturned...
The Senate’s a better place without Stevens.
But can any man of Jim's nature resist a coy wink from his Alaskan girlfriend?
Should we start a national campaign to put Stevens back in the U.S. Senate? There’s no time to wait. The poor suffering soul is halfway through his 80s and cannot long wait for justice to be done. Send him back to Washington.
Internet archives. Aren't they just wonderful?

Ted Stevens was eleventy billion years old, didn't know what the internet was, and accepted a quarter million dollars in "gifts" from a lobbyist that never made their way onto his disclosure forms. Even if his conviction was obtained through prosecutorial misconduct, the people of Alaska had plenty of good reasons not to give him another 6 year term.

Sarah Palin needs to shut it.

Last time I checked, the governor of Alaska lacks the power to call a special election for a United States Senate seat. In fact, I don't think she has any jurisdiction over federal elections in Alaska at all.

Interesting concept there. So are you saying that citizens and public officials should only speak out about issues over which said individual has "power" or "jurisdiction"?
