The People Have Spoken

I enjoy being the man in black but I've always worried about readability. There have been complaints in the past.

Well, time to do something about it.

I got off my lazy butt, dug out my miniscule CSS mojo and tweaked the main section. Hopefully the color contrast is a bit easier on the eyes.

I'm going to keep tweaking but let me know what you think.

Oh. And I know I've also been less than prolific lately. That's going to change too.

Before I could read what you wrote, I thought that the new color scheme was jarring and that the page had been rendered incorrectly. Please bring back the man in black.

Hm. I think I preferred the man in black.

Same here.

Help me! I have been blinded by the light! Where is the black? Bring it back!

The black background looks better, but the white background is easier to read. Do you go for form or function?
The word verification for this is "blyze". That has a poetic ring.

Bring back the black!

I like it this way for readability. (I don't have the best eyesight!) But I think it looks weird to have just the center column a different color scheme. I'm sure you'd get protests, but I'd like your entire layout to be this color scheme.

This is much easier to read , but not as pretty.

I agree with Amber, but you run the risk of looking like the God-awful makeover at CL. :-)

Two problems.

I'm a bit of a contarian.

I kind of like the new look.

But I am going to play with Ambers suggestion.

My eyes! The goggles - they do nothing!

I say pick one or the other, lest people confuse you with an Angelfire site.

Well saying Angelfire was the magic word. I'm going to try it like this for a while.

Heh. I knew Nast had just cut to the quick.

At least your blog doesn't look like this site.

Old - looked cool.

New - all columns readable without massive Firefox Ctrl-plus font-enlargement with every visit.

Yay, readable.

Bye-bye, cool. (sniff)

I wonder which would send you back to the old version, my saying how much I loved it or how much I love the new one? :-)

Forty-three year old eyes like the new arrangment, but FakeBillJagger is right, the old scheme looked bitchin'.
