My Morning Wooten

Bloody Jim is back.

I can't. I just can't today. I was tempted to repeat the list of those who were on death row but were exonerated and point out Bloody Jim would probably have tried to rush them off to the needle too.

But I can't.

Partly because talking about the death penalty to a zealot wears my soul. But mostly because I understand the difference between innocence and the legal standard of beyond a reasonable doubt and how the recantations fit into the equation. But just like Jim, I am not an expert on these things.

So instead of the polemicists today, you should go listen to the lawyer.

Jim has no problem with potentially innocent men being executed, and possibly, the fact that Troy Davis is black might have something to do with it. There, I said it. He might not be consciously thinking that way, but underneath, the casual racism has to play apart in his side's thinking.

Reichwingers: bring it.
