A friend and I were talking about the immigration debate.
We both had to shake our head at those that scream "we should deport them all".
I suppose I can understand the visceral reaction of wanting to punish lawbreakers but give me a break. There are an estimated 10-11 million illegal immigrants in the United States. Somewhere between 200,000 and 800,000 in Georgia alone.
Exactly how is a federal government that couldn't bus a couple of hundred thousand starving people out of New Orleans going to round up several million people they can't even find?
As my friend Campbell put it, "the infrastructure required would make Stalin wet himself".
Thankfully, most people understand that this is a complex issue that will require thoughtful solutions. For those of you who believe they should all be rounded up and sent home, please do not operate any heavy equipment in the near future.
