Another General Speaks Out On Iraq

Last week, General Anthony Zini spoke out on the mismanagement of Iraq.

Now, the former director of operations for the Joint Chiefs, Lt. General Gregory Newbold is talking.

"My sincere view is that the commitment of our forces to this fight was done
with a casualness and swagger that are the special province of those who have
never had to execute these missions--or bury the results."

Sobering.

Won't Get Fooled Again could be applied to many wars in this country. Certainly sounds like we are getting fooled again by the pols who never fought and are just itching for war to prove their manhood.

Doesn't it sound like what you read about the machinations by the politicians regarding the Ware with Mexico in 1848 and on both sides during the Civil War? Griftdrift can certainly speak better to these conflicts than I can.

"I tip my hat to the new constitution.....

Actually I would compare it more closely to the Spanish American war of 1898.

A war propogated on the dubious claim that Spanish saboteurs had blown up the U.S.S Maine, our military travelled the world scooping up Spanish territories.

Ironically, this led to Cuba declaring independance. And we all know how THAT ended.
